The Comunalitat de Valls is one of 22 urban communities promoted by the Directorate General of Social Economy and Cooperatives of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Its main goal is to revitalize the local economy from the perspective of social and solidarity economy, working closely with neighborhood, commercial, and associative networks.
Since its establishment, the initiative has successfully launched over 15 projects covering areas such as culture, sports, housing, and energy. These actions have led to the creation of about fifty job opportunities and the recovery of five key spaces in the city, such as Reútil and La Draperia.
The initiatives born within the framework of this project are grouped into four main axes: access to essential goods, intercooperation, resource utilization, and capacity building.
The projects are structured around four axes. Notable initiatives include the Club Esportiu Popular, the Escola Popular la Zeta, and the energy community L’Electra Vallenca. Intercooperation projects like Reútil, which promotes the second life of objects with the participation of the Valls City Council and various cooperatives, are also included.
Looking ahead, the Comunalitat is preparing for the new subsidy call from the Generalitat for the 2026-2028 period. Immediate challenges include starting construction on the second phase of the La Titaranya housing cooperative, scheduled for 2027, and installing solar panels for L’Electra Vallenca.
