Adif has confirmed 29 urgent repair points on the Rodalies network in Catalonia, six more than initially reported, aiming to finalize inspections this week and fully restore service normality.

The railway manager detailed that a total of 50 teams and 150 technicians are deployed at these black spots, following joint inspections carried out with train drivers. This figure was reached one week after the train accident near Gelida that triggered the unprecedented railway crisis.

"The collapse of the Rodalies network Control Center was due to a failure in the software architecture of the traffic management system."

Luis Pedro Marco · President of Adif
Adif President, Luis Pedro Marco, explained that last Monday's Control Center collapse occurred during the implementation of a new program on lines R1, R2, and R4. An "anomaly" in the transition program caused information to be received from both the old and new managers, leading to saturation.
The agency has ruled out the possibility of a cyberattack, as confirmed by the Secretary of State for Transport, José Antonio Santano. Adif has announced the initiation of legal proceedings to claim responsibilities from the software provider company for the identified error.
Furthermore, Adif linked the initial incidents to the "exceptional" storm that affected Catalonia, noting that in some areas, rainfall was triple the usual for December and January, with precipitation levels not seen since the 50s.
