The Assemblea Nacional Catalana launched its reactivation campaign in the Alt Empordà last Thursday, bringing activist Vicent Partal to Capmany to promote the creation of new local groups.

The Catalan National Assembly (ANC), seeking to revive separatist activity after the decline of the Procés, organized an event at the Societat La Fraternal in Capmany. The event, promoted by the ANC of the Northwestern Empordà, featured the activist, journalist, and director of Vilaweb, Vicent Partal, who gathered more than a hundred attendees.

"Catalonia is without a government. Trains don't run and nobody protests. On Saturday there should be millions of people demonstrating in Barcelona, as they have ruined the trains, healthcare, and schools."

The campaign manager for this sector of the ANC, Enric Fontanals, called on citizens to establish “a small nucleus in every town in the region” in order to reactivate the Assembly. This initiative is part of a territorial expansion and membership drive campaign planned for this year, featuring small-format meetings to promote new local groups.
As part of the strategy, the Centre Cívic Nova Harmonia in Pont de Molins will host a lecture by the writer and professor Gerard Furest on February 20. Furthermore, the ANC plans to bring figures such as former deputy Julià de Jòdar and sovereignty activist Josep Guia to the region. Partal, who witnessed the independence process of the Baltic countries in the nineties, was emphatic in Capmany: “Independence must be done from below, and we must kick out this government and the current politicians”.
