The Figueres City Council and the newspaper EMPORDÀ have launched the 2026 Institutional Calendar to celebrate the city's 150th anniversary, featuring selected art from the Museu de l'Empordà.

The capital of the Alt Empordà region is celebrating a key milestone: 150 years since it was granted the title of city. To commemorate this, the Figueres City Council, in collaboration with the media outlet EMPORDÀ, has published the 2026 Institutional Calendar, which will be distributed free of charge next Tuesday, December 23. This initiative coincides with the recent reopening of the Museu de l'Empordà, following a process of renovation and renewal of its permanent exhibition.

"This commemoration invites us to recognize the path traveled and to reaffirm what identifies us as a city and as a community."

Jordi Masquef · Mayor of Figueres
The calendar offers an artistic journey through the essence of Figueres across twelve plates featuring works by artists linked to the city, from Blanquet to Pujolboira, including Alícia Viñas and Ministral. Among the selected pieces are the mural UNA (2018), by Paula Bonet, visible on the Museum's facade; the lithograph El Parc Bosc de Figueres (1930), by Marià Baig Minobis; and Els amants de la plaça del Teatre de Figueres (1973), by Alícia Viñas Palomer.
Also included is the photograph La Rambla de Figueres (c. 1955), by Joaquim Fort de Ribot, and other creations by Josep Blanquet Taberner (with Pujada del Castell), Josep Ministral Agustí, Lluís Roura Juanola, and Ramon Pujolboira. Mayor Jordi Masquef emphasized that the anniversary's goal is not just to look back, but to use history as a foundation for future projection.

"The goal is to project ourselves towards the future: thinking, rethinking, and building, together, the Figueres of 2030 and 2050, combining tradition and modernity."
