The symbolic act, held on Sant Pere street, marked the official reception of the property that will allow a significant expansion of the services and exhibition space of the collection. During the ceremony, Mayor Jordi Masquef handed over the keys to Anna Joan Casademont, who has been elected the new president of the Museum Foundation's Board of Trustees.
“"This expansion is a safe bet for a consolidated project that will help reinforce the attractiveness of Figueres as a City of Museums."
Anna Joan Casademont, daughter of the founders Josep Maria Joan and Pilar Casademont, takes over from her father, who held the position until his death last year. Both Mayor Masquef and Director Pep Canaleta highlighted the “bittersweet feeling” of the event due to the absence of the founder, who worked to make this enlargement a reality.
Director Pep Canaleta announced that modernization plans include opening a street-level shop, moving the Brossa Frègoli room next to the terrace, and creating new spaces to better display the country's most important and documented toy collection.
