The Figueres judicial district closed 2025 with over 15,000 pending cases, establishing itself as the most saturated in the Girona region, according to judicial breakdown data.

The 2025 statistics for the nine judicial districts in the Girona demarcation reveal an uneven reality in case management. While the overall backlog of pending cases increased in four districts, five managed to reduce it. Only Olot stood out for closing the year with a significant decrease in its procedural caseload.
The Figueres judicial district leads the list with 15,458 pending procedures at the end of 2025, exceeding the 15,114 from the beginning of the year. Although the number of cases filed (23,692) and resolved (23,604) remains almost balanced, an internal imbalance is observed: civil cases decreased by 13% to 7,418, while criminal cases increased by 22.1%, reaching 8,040.
Meanwhile, Blanes shows the worst resolution rate, at 0.94, and is the only one with a pending rate of 1.06. It ended 2025 with 11,830 pending cases, a 7% increase from the start of the year. Both civil and criminal cases increased by 6.2% and 8.3% respectively.
In contrast, the Girona judicial district experienced an overall improvement, reducing its pending cases by 6.5% to 10,980. This improvement is mainly due to a sharp drop in civil cases (-28.4%), as criminal cases recorded the highest percentage growth in the demarcation, at 38.2%. Other districts such as La Bisbal d'Empordà, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, and Santa Coloma de Farners also improved overall, but with the same trend: fewer civil cases and more criminal cases.
The most notable case of decompression is Olot, which reduced its pending cases by 30.1%, from 4,084 to 2,855. Its resolution rate stood at 1.18. Despite these figures, the enforcement of sentences remains a significant challenge, especially in the civil sphere, with Blanes, Girona, and Figueres leading in the volume of pending executions.
