Sardana experts Jordi Saura and Jaume Nonell presented their new book 100 motius per estimar la sardana at the Figueres Library last Friday, January 9, offering a comprehensive view of the traditional dance.

The authors, recognized experts in the sardana world, have joined forces to create a work that goes beyond stereotypes. The book, published by Cossetània, is divided into one hundred brief chapters covering everything from choreographic and musical aspects to its presence in literature and cinema.

"The book aims to expose the world of the sardana in an enjoyable and entertaining way, covering the facets of dance and music, as well as the richness of its associative fabric, its history, and its significance within the context of Catalan culture"

The presentation in Figueres featured the participation of Alfons Gumbau, who joined Saura and Nonell in detailing the five main sections of the volume. These sections allow the reader to follow the evolution of the sardana, including the function of the cobla instruments and its social meaning.
The main goal of 100 motius per estimar la sardana is to provide a fresh and updated perspective, reflecting new contributions and debunking myths, thus consolidating the sardana as a fundamental element of Catalan culture.
