The event, held in L'Escala, served as a meeting point between two seemingly distant disciplines: contemporary music and the study of antiquity. The goal was to analyze how the narratives, myths, and forms of Greco-Latin culture continue to be an inexhaustible source of inspiration for creators in the 21st century.
The duo Tarta Relena, formed by Marta Torrella and Helena Ros, known for their reinterpretation of traditional polyphony with a modern twist, explained how the search for ancestral sounds often leads them to connect with musical structures dating back to ancient Greece. They highlighted the importance of oral transmission and how the universal themes of classical tragedy are reflected in their compositions.
For his part, the writer and translator Raül Garrigasait, an expert in classical culture, provided the literary perspective, emphasizing that the great themes of humanity were already addressed by classical authors. Garrigasait argued that rereading works like the Odyssey or the tragedies of Aeschylus is not a nostalgic exercise, but a tool for understanding the complexity of the present.
