The Minister of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition, Sílvia Paneque, highlighted the Government of Catalunya's commitment to "contributing to a Catalunya of small homeowners" and emphasized that the new viewer "explains this on a map." Addressing the difficulty of accessing housing, she added, "we are activating all available tools to expand the affordable housing stock as quickly as possible."
This new tool allows for temporal and territorial consultation of the 50,000 Plan's progress, with data available since July 2024. Information will be updated quarterly and can be filtered by year, quarter, municipality, type of action, execution status, and ownership regime. The aim is to provide an updated snapshot of the affordable housing stock expansion.
The viewer includes a map showing the location of cadastral plots linked to the initiatives. To ensure data protection, the exact location is randomly displaced within a 200-meter radius.
The 50,000 Plan employs various methods to incorporate new affordable homes, such as public land reserves, pre-emption rights, direct acquisition of existing properties, and support through the Emancipation Loan for young people. These actions are developed in collaboration with municipalities, entities, and social and private developers, aiming to mobilize housing where it is most needed and contribute to urban regeneration.
With an annual investment of 1.1 billion euros, the 50,000 Plan anticipates the construction or acquisition of 50,000 new affordable homes across Catalunya, with a particular focus on municipalities with higher demand, combining the expansion of protected housing with the mobilization of existing properties.
