The Consell Esportiu de l'Alt Empordà has launched the Regional Padel Cup, a new competition involving eighteen local municipalities that will conclude in Figueres on April 26.

Padel, a sport originally invented by businessman Enrique Corcuera in Mexico, has become immensely popular across the Girona region. To promote local facilities, the Consell Esportiu de l'Alt Empordà has created a tournament designed to highlight both major clubs and smaller municipal courts.
Eighteen municipalities have joined the initiative, including towns such as Portbou, Llançà, Pau, Roses, Castelló d'Empúries, l'Escala, and Figueres. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with 90% of the region's towns with padel courts participating.

"The goal is to create a competition that does not only focus on the large and well-known clubs, but also highlights the courts in small municipalities."
