Alt Empordà records wind gusts of up to 170 km/h

Civil Protection maintains the alert in the region and urges caution due to the severe windstorm.

The Meteorological Service of Catalonia recorded wind gusts nearing 170 km/h in northern Alt Empordà this Sunday, while the Port Ainé ski resort has been forced to close.

The weather situation in northern Catalonia is critical this March 15th. The Portbou-coll dels Belitres station recorded a peak of 164.2 km/h at 8:00 AM. Other areas in the region, such as Darnius-Boadella and Navata, also saw gusts exceeding 100 km/h.
Due to safety concerns, Port Ainé in Pallars Sobirà has temporarily closed as winds surpassed 120 km/h in the high peaks of the Pyrenees.
Civil Protection continues to advise against outdoor activities in Alt Empordà, Berguedà, Ripollès, and Cerdanya following the ES-Alert sent to residents on Saturday.
