The village of Bàscara, located in the Alt Empordà region, will host the 40th edition of the Mercat dels Tortells this Sunday, March 22nd, celebrating a long-standing culinary tradition.

The market will be open at the Church Square from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This event, which dates back to medieval fairs from the 13th century, focuses on the tortell, a traditional ring-shaped cake that godparents typically give to their godchildren before Palm Sunday.
Visitors can enjoy local varieties like the Bascarenc, made with chocolate or cinnamon. The program also includes craft stalls, family workshops, and the performance of a unique sardana dance composed by Florenci Mauné in 1951.
