The town of Castelló d'Empúries has prepared a program of events to celebrate Catalonia's National Day, which will take place on September 10th and 11th. The commemoration combines traditional events, citizen participation, and independence advocacy.
On Thursday, September 10th, the day will begin at 9 PM with a gathering in front of the Casa Gran. At 9:30 PM, the 10th Torchlight March for Independence, organized by the ANC of Castelló d'Empúries, will commence. The route will end at the Palau dels Comtes track, where a manifesto will be read, a brief talk on Catalan history will be given, Els Segadors will be sung, and there will be an entertainment area with xerinos, gralles, and coca for all attendees.
The following day, Friday, September 11th, Catalonia's National Day, traditional and institutional events will continue. At 10 AM, in the plaça dels Homes, the manifesto will be read and Els Segadors will be sung, with the participation of singers from the Coral Castellonina.
Immediately after, in the same square, a sardana music performance will be held by the cobla Sol de Banyuls. Afterwards, there will be a free popular breakfast open to everyone, serving as a meeting point and shared celebration of the National Day.
In the afternoon, at 2:45 PM, in front of the Hotel Empòrium, a bus will depart for Girona to participate in the demonstration called by the ANC. Ticket reservations, priced at €10, can be made by calling 609 30 52 22, between 6 PM and 10 PM.
Catalonia's National Day is presented as a day of commemoration, reunion, and valuing Catalan history, culture, and identity. Castelló d'Empúries invites everyone to participate in the events.
