The Correllengua Agermanat, advocating for the Catalan language, has entered Alt Empordà and will arrive in Girona this Monday, April 20, with a central event at Plaça de l'U d'Octubre de 2017.

The Correllengua Agermanat initiative, which commenced on Sunday, April 19, in Prada de Conflent, aims to defend and promote the Catalan language, uniting the territory from north to south. This event, mobilizing thousands of participants, will cover over 1,500 kilometers in seventeen stages until May 5.
The flame, lit at the tomb of Pompeu Fabra, has embarked on two main routes: one inland and one along the coast. During the first day, the flame passed through areas like La Jonquera, incorporating Alt Empordà into its journey from the outset. Its arrival in Girona will follow eighteen sections from Figueres, establishing the Alt Empordà capital as a key point in the Correllengua's passage through the Girona regions.
The central event in the Girona demarcation will take place on Monday, April 20, at Plaça de l'U d'Octubre de 2017. The program will begin at 4:30 PM with a popular snack, traditional games, workshops, scrabble matches, and an exhibition of historical Correllengua posters. Later, there will be performances by Catalunya Freestyle, a sardana dance with the Cobla Ciutat de Girona, and music by the brass band Rata Barberà, before the flame's arrival.
Once the flame enters the city, there will be the Àliga dance, a tribute to linguistic activism, a human tower by the Marrecs de Salt, the reading of a manifesto, and a performance by Glosa de Girona. This day will combine celebration, popular culture, and linguistic advocacy, making Girona the epicenter of the Correllengua Agermanat in the Girona regions.
On Tuesday, April 21, the flame will continue its journey from Girona towards Barcelona, and subsequently to other parts of the country, including Central Catalonia, with the aim of spreading the message of Catalan throughout the territory until its final stage.
