The club from Alt Empordà has concluded a challenging season in the highest category of national table tennis, culminating in its relegation. Recent defeats against Burgos and Borges in the double header played between Friday and today sealed their fate.
The campaign has been marked by several factors, including the recovery of a key player who could not start the season due to episodes of anxiety and stress, and the club's economic situation. These elements have influenced the team's performance throughout the season.
During their visit to Burgos, the team lost 4-2. One of the players suffered two defeats, breaking a personal winning streak. The victories for the L'Escala club were achieved by one of the players and another teammate. This first player, in fact, was close to securing a third point in a tight match, losing 11-9.
The relegation was definitively confirmed with a 4-1 defeat against Borges. In this match, one of the players managed a victory, but was overcome by an opponent, who also defeated another CTT C.E.R. L'Escala player. A third player also failed to surprise a former national champion.
Despite the relegation, the club positively assesses the improvement of one of its players, who had to play more matches than anticipated and significantly raised his level. Likewise, the progressive recovery of the player who suffered from anxiety is a key point. The team for División de Honor will be built around this player, with the aim of returning to the top category.
