The SOS Costa Brava federation has launched the Camins Lliures project to create a voluntary surveillance network ensuring the continuity of the coastal path from Portbou to Blanes.

The main goal of the Camins Lliures project is to restore the continuity of the entire coastal path that runs along the Girona coastline, including all sections in Alt Empordà. The initiative seeks to report closed or degraded areas to ensure the coastal route remains public heritage and accessible to everyone.
Driven by SOS Costa Brava, the initiative successfully surpassed its initial crowdfunding goal of 6,600 euros, raising approximately 7,900 euros in December. These funds will allow the first pilot test to begin this February, focusing on promoting the adoption of different sections of the coastal path.

"The objective is to create a stable environmental surveillance network that progressively covers the entire Costa Brava coastline, from Portbou to Blanes."

This initial phase will allow the entity to test the monitoring methodology, volunteer training, and the system for detecting impacts and obstacles. Simultaneously, the Camí de Mar de la Costa Brava association is collaborating with the State Coastal Service and various municipal councils to enable a new coastal path linking Collioure with Malgrat de Mar without interruptions.
