The Girona counties are preparing for a significant shift in nocturnal temperatures. According to weather forecasts, areas such as Portbou, Cadaqués, Figueres, and Roses will record minimum temperatures above 20°C between Wednesday and the upcoming weekend, anticipating the official start of summer.
In Portbou, minimum temperatures are predicted to rise from the current 19°C to 24°C on Wednesday and up to 25°C on Thursday. These warm temperatures are expected to persist through the following days, with lows around 20-22°C until Sunday. A similar situation is occurring in Cadaqués, where nights will be tropical with lows reaching up to 24°C on Thursday, and in Figueres, which will hit 23°C on Thursday and remain between 20°C and 22°C until the weekend.
Roses is also joining this trend, with minimum temperatures hovering around 20-21°C. On the southern Costa Brava, in places like Blanes and Lloret de Mar, this phenomenon will be more sporadic, reaching 20°C on Thursday and Saturday. In Palamós, the highest predicted minimum is 21°C on Saturday.
In contrast, Girona city, despite feeling the warm atmosphere, will remain below the tropical threshold, with maximum minimum temperatures of 19°C between Thursday and Sunday. In the mountainous and inland areas, such as Olot, Ripoll, and Puigcerdà, nocturnal temperatures will be considerably milder, with lows not exceeding 18°C in Olot and Ripoll, and between 8°C and 12°C in Puigcerdà.
This episode of nocturnal heat is part of a week expected to be "extraordinarily warm" across much of Spain, with temperatures typical of late July or early August, according to AEMET. Meteocat confirms this trend, while highlighting regional differences within Catalonia, with Empordà and the northern coast being the most affected by this nocturnal warming.
