The Figueres City Council and Roses have begun installing new speed control devices this March to reduce accidents caused by traffic violations.

Road safety in Alt Empordà features new surveillance elements. Specifically, new radars have been placed at the entrance to Figueres through the Vilatenim sector, while Roses expects a new control at its main entrances and exits.
These new speed cameras join existing ones, such as the section radar in Fortià. While fixed radars are often bypassed by drivers using apps like Waze, section radars are considered more effective as they force drivers to maintain legal speeds over a specific distance.
The measure aims to tackle habitual offenders. According to statistics, alcohol and drug consumption remain the primary factors influencing fatal accidents on Catalan roads.
