Figueres Honors Female Talent on International Women's Day

The city of Figueres commemorated International Women's Day this Friday, March 6, with an institutional event at the Cercle Sport Figuerenc focusing on academic excellence and literary debate.

Equality Councilor Gemma Gironella opened the ceremony, which included the 20th edition of the Maria Rosa Ymbert March 8th Prize. The awards were presented to six secondary school students from various educational centers in Figueres.
The institutional manifesto was read by Montse Palma, a prominent local figure. Palma, a former Figueres City Council member and Member of Parliament, currently serves as the Ombudsman for the University of Girona and is a researcher in educational psychology.
The celebration concluded with a panel discussion titled Women and Writing. Moderated by Cristina Jutge, the talk featured authors Cristina Masanés, Elisabet Riera, and M. Mercè Cuartiella.
