The Mayor of Figueres, Jordi Masquef, confirmed during the Local Police Day that the city will open a specialized anti-squatting office in 2026 within a new police sub-headquarters.

The new facility is expected to be located near Station Square (Plaça de l'Estació). This initiative follows a pioneering protocol in the Alt Empordà region designed to protect property owners' rights and ensure urban coexistence.

"We have acted with determination and legal rigor to protect the rights of owners."
