The city councils of Girona and Figueres expressed their frustration this Thursday over a general wind alert that they claim has unnecessarily paralyzed local activity and services.

The Mayor of Figueres, Jordi Masquef, pointed out that while the country was at a standstill, there was no wind at all in his city. Meanwhile, Lluc Salellas, Mayor of Girona, called for more surgical and localized measures instead of blanket restrictions.

"The alert has paralyzed the country when in our town not even a leaf is moving."
