Mobile phone stolen two years ago found in Figueres second-hand shop

Mossos d'Esquadra have located a mobile phone, stolen almost two years ago on a train journey between Barcelona and Figueres, during an inspection of a second-hand shop in Figueres.

The police operation took place on the afternoon of May 19th in a shop in the city center, as part of routine checks to verify compliance with legal obligations for second-hand businesses. During the inspection, officers identified a phone that was registered as stolen.
The theft of the device, valued at 437 euros, occurred on September 28th, 2023, during a train journey. The victim reported that the phone had been stolen from their jacket while they slept on the journey to Figueres.
Following the discovery of the mobile phone, Mossos d'Esquadra proceeded to file a criminal complaint for handling stolen goods against the shop owner, a 48-year-old man with a criminal record.
