Figueres will host the fourth edition of its International Magic Festival from September 25 to 27. This year's lineup is headlined by French illusionist Lea Kyle, recognized as a world champion and expert in rapid costume changes. The event will feature artists from France, Belgium, Cuba, Extremadura, and Catalonia, offering a diverse program including large-scale shows, close-up magic, and family-friendly performances.
The festival, driven by local illusionist Raül Black with the collaboration of the Figueres City Council and the Girona Provincial Council, aims to showcase various disciplines within illusionism. According to Black, the international gala will be a highlight, but the festival also seeks to promote close-up magic, street performances, and activities designed for children and families.
Pilar Sánchez, councilor for Fairs and Festivals at the Figueres City Council, emphasized the city's continued trust in the festival, which has established itself as a benchmark in the magic scene, attracting growing audiences and boosting Figueres' international profile in magic. This edition marks the beginning of the city's autumn events.
The 2025 edition saw an attendance of 7,100 people, surpassing previous years (5,000 in 2023 and over 6,800 in 2024), representing an increase of more than 42% in three years. Over 3,000 tickets were sold last year, with full capacity in all limited-seating shows.
The International Magic Gala, the festival's main event, will take place on September 26 at the Teatre Municipal el Jardí. It will feature notable performances by Lea Kyle, France's Florian Sainvet (world champion in manipulation), and Cuba's Ernesto Planas. Also performing will be Víctor Zerro, the Belgian company Elastic, Mag Marín, Patri Zener, and French artist Francesca. Gala tickets start from 18 euros.
The program kicks off on Friday, September 25, with a magic dinner. Saturday includes magic workshops, street performances in the Gala i Salvador Dalí square and on the Rambla, and a close-up magic gala at the Auditori dels Caputxins featuring Mario. The day concludes with magic at the Casino Menestral.
On Sunday, September 27, activities continue with more workshops, performances by Brando i Silvana in the Plaça de l’Ajuntament, a second close-up magic gala with Mario, and the children's show Hai, la pescadora de somnis by the company Giramagic at La Cate. The festival also includes film activities and an exhibition at the Museu del Joguet de Catalunya.
The festival maintains its social commitment, having reached over 1,800 schoolchildren last year and bringing performances to nursing homes and the Hospital de Figueres. Its dedication to equality, inclusion, and sustainability is also highlighted, with equitable representation in the artistic and technical teams.
