The town of l'Escala and the Consorci d'Aigües Costa Brava Girona are preparing to launch a new water treatment plant (ETAP) in early April to secure the local supply.

Located in Mas Martí, the facility will be able to process 14,000 cubic meters of water per day. This capacity is designed to meet the town's needs, including summer peaks when consumption reaches 11,400 m3 daily, nearly doubling the yearly average.
The 7 million euro project, funded by the Consorci and the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), focuses on removing iron and manganese. Mayor Josep Bofill and Miquel Noguer, president of the Girona Provincial Council, recently inspected the advanced state of the works.
