The GI-612 highway, connecting the coastal towns of Llançà and Port de la Selva, reopened to traffic this Friday following extensive repairs after a major landslide.

The road had been closed since January 20, when heavy rains from Storm Harry caused a slope failure at kilometer 6. Although authorities initially expected the repairs to last until Easter, the stabilization works were completed ahead of schedule.
According to the Girona Territorial Road Service, final finishing touches are still underway. As a result, traffic is currently being managed with alternating lanes in the affected section to ensure the safety of both drivers and workers.

"It is the result of building on impossible slopes in Cau del Llop."

The stabilization involved using sprayed concrete, metal mesh, and anchor bars to secure the hillside. The landslide also affected nearby properties, leading Firefighters to seal off two houses located directly above the damaged slope in Llançà.
