Officers from the National Police arrested a man in La Jonquera on the early morning of August 18, suspected of drug trafficking. The operation occurred during a routine checkpoint near the border.
The driver of a Citroën C4 ignored police signals to stop and made an evasive maneuver to avoid the checkpoint. Upon inspecting the vehicle, officers discovered a hidden compartment in the trunk.
Inside the compartment, they found 20 packages of hashish, weighing a total of 21 kilograms, and a bag containing half a kilo of cocaine. The estimated street value of these drugs exceeds 55,000 euros.
Police also found that the vehicle was registered to a third party with prior drug trafficking convictions. The arrested individual also had an international warrant issued by French authorities and is linked to other criminal offenses across Spain.
