The Girona Greenways Consortium and local authorities met this week to launch the Pyrevelo initiative. The main highlight is a 7-kilometer dedicated path following the Muga River, which will be strictly reserved for non-motorized traffic between Albanyà and Sant Llorenç de la Muga.
The project also includes new signage for the route between Terrades and Tapis, connecting to the Pirinexus network. Additionally, six bicycle self-repair stations will be installed, and several paths in Northern Catalonia, including Collioure and Port-Vendres, will be upgraded.
With a total investment of 3.7 million euros, the European Union covers 65% of the costs through the POCTEFA 2021-2027 funds, aiming to strengthen economic and social integration across the border.
