The emergency call was received at 8:35 AM. Firefighters had to use specialized equipment to release both occupants trapped inside the car. One victim was rushed to Trueta Hospital in critical condition.

Five Mossos d'Esquadra police patrols and three medical units attended the scene. Traffic is currently being managed with alternating lanes, causing delays in the Alt Empordà region.
