The port of Roses, in Alt Empordà, has launched its cruise season with the arrival of the Seadream, expecting seven calls and nearly 2,700 passengers until October 20, focusing on tourism de-seasonalization.

This year's campaign is characterized by the exclusive arrival of high-end vessels, catering to passengers with high purchasing power. These visitors typically seek "unique and differentiated experiences" in the region, particularly in areas such as culture, gastronomy, and wine tourism, as reported by the Department.
The Seadream, from the company Seadream Yacht Club, was the first to arrive this Sunday, coming from Barcelona, with 50 passengers on board, mostly North Americans. This ship has a long history at the Alt Empordà port, having called there for 14 years. After its visit, it sailed towards the French port of Séte.
Forecasts indicate that 70% of the calls will take place outside the summer months, significantly contributing to the de-seasonalization of economic and tourist activity in the Alt Empordà region and the Costa Brava. This strategy aims to extend the benefits of tourism beyond the peak season.
The season is estimated to generate an economic impact of approximately 6.7 million euros for the region. This figure is calculated based on an average expenditure of 90 euros per passenger who disembarks and explores the destination, with an additional six euros per passenger for port services.
The season will span six months, concluding on October 20. The six cruise companies visiting Roses this year are Azamara, Club Med, Crystal Cruises, Sea Cloud Cruises, SeaDream Yacht Club, and Windstar Cruises.
