The Government of Catalonia has budgeted 12.6 million euros in direct investments for 31 municipalities in the Girona region, resulting from an agreement between PSC, Comuns, and ERC.

From this total figure, Portbou will receive 4.25 million euros designated for the creation of the future Walter Benjamin Memorial Space. This project will transform the town's former town hall and old schools into a center dedicated to the life and work of the German philosopher.
Other municipalities will also benefit from these nominative investments. Sant Joan de les Abadesses will receive 2 million euros for the second phase of the Mestre Andreu school institute. Additionally, Serinyà will receive 500,000 euros for the purchase and adaptation of the Can Carreres estate; Cassà de la Selva will get 460,000 euros for the redevelopment of its old town; Palafrugell, 450,000 euros for a new sports area; Hostalric, 400,000 euros for its football field's turf; and Vilabertran, 400,000 euros to improve the surroundings of the Santa Maria canonical.
The Government delegate, Xavier Guitart, emphasized that these nominative allocations, directly assigned to town councils, will enable the execution of projects that would be "impossible" to undertake with municipal budgets alone. These investments are guaranteed for the period 2026-2030.
In cases like Girona, Salt, and Blanes, the nominative investments, despite not having an allocation for 2026, will have their execution guaranteed in subsequent years. In Girona, the construction of the definitive building for the Balandrau school is planned; in Salt, the erection of the new Salvador Sunyer institute building; and in Blanes, a comprehensive renovation of the bus station.
The delegate also highlighted that the budgets prioritize small towns, with specific allocations to compensate for the deficit of secretaries and the upcoming launch of the 'Pla de Pobles' (Towns Plan) for municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.
