The protest, organized by the Grup en Defensa de la Gola del Fluvià, took place at the mouth of the Fluvià river, where demonstrators called for the closure of the Port Natura complex. This site, in addition to caravan parking, offers kayak and jet ski rentals, and has even set up a bar during the summer season, activities that, according to residents, are carried out without the necessary permits.
“"This area has been severely damaged. No garbage fees are paid, we don't know where the greywater from the motorhomes goes, nor their waste."
The spokesperson for Grup Gola, Catalina Victory, emphasized that 48% of these lands are public property, belonging to the Generalitat and the Sant Pere Pescador City Council, and accused the owner of "privatizing" this part of public domain. Victory recalled that the Generalitat issued a closure decree and a sanctioning resolution in 2023, but these measures are not being enforced.
For his part, the mayor of Sant Pere Pescador, Agustí Badosa, described the situation as "complex" and explained that the council has opened sanctioning files and even sealed the facilities. However, the owner has reportedly failed to comply with these measures, and the case is currently in court. Badosa added that the redefinition of the area as public maritime-terrestrial domain transfers jurisdiction to the State, which should enforce the coastal law.
The landowner, Víctor Latorre, defended that his property is "100% private" and denied the existence of any public path in the area. Latorre stated that the space functions exclusively as parking linked to the port and insisted that "there is no campsite or associated services".
