The town of Roses kicks off the 2026 Carnival this Thursday with a record-breaking 5,710 participants and 75 groups parading through the Alt Empordà region until Monday.

This year's edition features a significant increase in participation, with 66 floats confirmed. The Councilor for Culture and Festivals, Sílvia Ripoll, noted that these figures far exceed last year's, driven by new groups joining the festivities and the event's growing reputation.

Key innovations include a new QR code system allowing the public to vote for the best costume, float, and choreography. Additionally, the Roses City Council has limited the popular Monday rice feast to 2,500 tickets to prioritize local carnival groups.
Regarding safety, the ban on alcohol consumption during the parades remains in place, supported by additional police officers from neighboring towns. The festival will also feature a wide range of musical performances and live radio broadcasts by RAC 1.
