The Roses Local Police launched a pilot program this February involving drone technology and a K9 unit to strengthen public safety and drug enforcement across the municipality.

This initiative includes twelve scheduled operations to evaluate the impact of these specialized services. The K9 unit, featuring Belgian Malinois and German Shepherds, is trained to detect narcotics in high-traffic areas, schools, and major public events in Roses.

"With the new canine and drone operations, we continue to professionalize police services to move towards a more modern and efficient security model."

Olga Simarro · Roses Civil Protection Councilor
The drone unit will provide aerial support for monitoring the coastline, natural parks, and assisting in search and rescue missions. Operations are supervised by a certified officer trained at the Institute of Public Security of Catalonia.
