This year's edition of the Santa Creu Fairs in Figueres has been described as a resounding success, both for the public turnout and the involvement of local entities and citizens. The festivities, which concluded with fireworks from Sant Ferran Castle, were experienced with great intensity by the municipal corporation.
The celebration coincided with the 150th anniversary of Figueres as a City and marked the beginning of the anniversary of the big-head figure Berruga, an emblematic character of the Amics dels Gegants. Favorable weather conditions allowed all scheduled activities to proceed normally, with significant participation from visitors across the region and beyond.
“"It would be a bad sign if the mayor of a city were not the first to enjoy and participate in the events organized by their city council and local entities!"
The mayor's active participation in various festive activities, such as DJing or dancing sevillanas, has generated comments, to which he responded by defending the importance of institutional involvement in the municipality's cultural life. This edition also served as a meeting point with opposition figures, in a pre-electoral context for next year's municipal elections.
In the final assessment, the municipal corporation highlighted the success in public attendance and participation, attributing it to the work of entities, public servants, and the government team. The improved format of the Rampell and the successful return of the fireworks to Sant Ferran Castle were emphasized, a location expected to be maintained in future editions.
