A powerful windstorm swept through Catalonia this Saturday, causing extensive damage in the Alt Empordà and Terres de l'Ebre regions, with wind speeds reaching 150 km/h.

In Alt Empordà, the wind damaged part of the radar at the Pení de Roses military station, which is essential for Barcelona's civil aviation control. Consequently, Carnival parades in Roses and Llançà were suspended, while l'Escala moved its children's festivities indoors.
In the south, seawater flooded approximately 400 hectares of rice fields in Deltebre. The Ebro Left Bank Irrigation Community estimates losses exceeding one million euros, prompting calls for a disaster area declaration due to the impact on the Fangar area.
The Generalitat Fire Brigade responded to over 680 calls, mostly in the South Metropolitan area and towns like Tortosa and Roquetes. Reported incidents include fallen walls, uprooted trees, and structural damage to the la Sénia sports hall.
