Families in Catalonia are facing waiting periods of up to six months for learning disorder diagnoses at Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, as public services remain overwhelmed by high demand.

The specialized unit in Barcelona is currently booking appointments for September. With public psychological services (EAP) overstretched, many parents are forced to pay around 500 euros for private assessments to ensure their children receive academic support on time.

"When the disorder is caught in time, learning improves substantially."
