Pilar Cufí Acevedo, a 27-year-old from la Jonquera, has achieved the second-highest score in Spain in the Resident Intern Psychologist (PIR) entrance exams held last January.

The University of Girona (UdG) graduate succeeded in one of the most demanding healthcare categories. This year, 3,355 applicants competed for only 280 positions nationwide, resulting in a ratio of twelve candidates per vacancy.

"I have been preparing for a year; from the summer onwards I studied between eight and ten hours a day."

This high ranking allows Cufí to choose her preferred residency location. She is considering the Mental Health Network at the Institut d'Assistència Sanitària (IAS) in Salt, citing both the proximity to her home and the professional quality of the center.
The exam period was noted for organizational challenges, including delays and the removal of Girona as a testing site, which forced local candidates to travel to Barcelona during a period of significant railway disruptions.
