The Audiencia de Barcelona has suspended the trial of a school canteen monitor accused of sexually abusing eight P4 students in Barcelona during the 2021 academic year.

The judge declared a partial nullity due to a procedural mistake in the court order regarding civil liability. This technicality forced the postponement of the hearing at the Provincial Court while the legal documentation is corrected.
Prosecutors are seeking a total of 48 years in prison, charging the defendant with eight counts of continuous sexual abuse against minors. The prosecution argues the crimes took place between April and July 2021, involving an abuse of his position of authority.
According to the investigation, the monitor allegedly used games to mask the abuse and targeted children while assisting them in the bathroom. The defendant also reportedly threatened the victims to prevent them from telling their parents about the incidents.
