The Plenary of the La Jonquera City Council has provisionally approved modifications to the tax ordinances for 2027, which include an increase in the Property Tax (IBI) for higher-value commercial and industrial properties, while other municipal taxes remain frozen.

The measure, approved in an extraordinary session on Wednesday, November 4th, with five votes in favor and six abstentions, modifies fiscal ordinance number 4, regulating the IBI. The increase is limited to commercial and industrial properties with the highest cadastral value established by the ordinance, excluding housing and other types of properties.
Mayor Míriam Lanero highlighted that "we are keeping municipal taxes and fees frozen, with a single modification affecting the IBI for higher-value commercial and industrial properties. Housing is excluded from this increase, as are other businesses and industries not falling into these categories."
This decision continues the line followed in previous years, when a freeze on municipal taxes and fees was already implemented to support families and local economic activity.
The expediente will be subject to public exhibition for thirty days, with an announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province of Girona and on the municipal notice board. During this period, interested parties may consult it and submit claims. If no claims are filed, the agreement will be definitively approved.
