Cèlia Garbí, Mayor of L'Armentera, reviewed municipal management, stressing the need for caution due to the limited budget while prioritizing maintenance and cultural revitalization of the municipality.

Municipal management in L'Armentera has been defined by economic prudence, as the town council is still paying off an old loan and operates on a limited budget. According to the Mayor, the main goal has been «to bring the town to a level of cleanliness and maintenance it did not have» and to invest in cultural life, which was a pending issue to encourage community participation.
One of the chronic problems facing the municipality is the school situation, which has been housed in temporary modular buildings (portables) for twelve years. This situation has worsened due to demographic growth, as the population has increased from six hundred to over a thousand residents since the pandemic, with more than a hundred students. The lack of this essential infrastructure is a major grievance for families who value educational services.

"Governing means being brave and taking on challenges and decisions, and if you can explain them to the population, people may agree or disagree, but the intention behind them is visible."

Cèlia Garbí · Mayor of L'Armentera
Regarding housing, the town council has taken a firm decision: «We have blocked tourist-use housing by mayoral decree» for fear that uncontrolled growth would displace renters. Furthermore, waste management, with the implementation of door-to-door collection pending since Summer 2023, depends on the Consell Comarcal de l'Alt Empordà (CCAE). Future projects focus on reconstructing the sewerage network, considered a public health issue, and rehabilitating streets through the PUOSC program.
