The Perelada Festival presented the fourth edition of its Easter Festival, which will take place from April 2 to 5 at Peralada Castle, featuring the recovery of the unpublished oratorio Cristo condannato.

The program, held in the Carme church and cloister, focuses on European musical heritage, with the voice serving as the central thread for Holy Week. The lineup includes international figures such as William Christie with Les Arts Florissants and Lionel Meunier with Vox Luminis. The Cor Francesc Valls will participate as the resident artist.

"Everyone is knocking on our door to come."

Oriol Aguilà · Artistic Director of the Perelada Festival
The oratorio Cristo condannato, with a libretto by Pietro Pariati, focuses on the trial of Jesus before Pontius Pilate and was originally premiered in 1717 at the Hofkapelle in Vienna. Director Dani Espasa has prepared a new edition of the score for this recovery.

"this oratorio has never been performed in its entirety in modern times"

The Good Friday program includes François Couperin's Leçons de Ténèbres. The closing concert will combine sacred works by Mozart and Schubert's Mass in G major, D 167. Conductor Guillermo García Calvo noted the “clear connections” between Mozart's youthful mass and Schubert's work.
