The Secretary of State for Transport, José Antonio Santano, announced that the closed section of the AP-7 in Gelida and the R4 railway line will reopen next Monday, two weeks after the fatal accident.

The head of Transport communicated this via the social network X, confirming that the collapsed slope that caused the fatal railway accident two weeks ago has been rebuilt and the entire retaining wall has been reinforced.

"The collapsed slope has already been rebuilt and the entire wall has been reinforced."

This deadline update comes after Santano was more cautious on Thursday, placing the reopening of the AP-7 sometime next week. Today, however, he specified the date as Monday, “if everything goes according to plan.”
Workers from Adif and highway maintenance have been working intensely in the affected area of Gelida to guarantee the safety of the infrastructure, aiming to minimize traffic disruptions in the Alt Penedès region.
