The Servei Català de Trànsit has closed the AP-7 highway in Gelida southbound again starting this Wednesday due to stabilization works on the slope affected by last week's railway accident.

The Director of Trànsit, Ramon Lamiel, announced the closure of the AP-7 highway over a three-and-a-half kilometer stretch, between Martorell and Castellbisbal, for “safety reasons.” This interruption affects all southbound lanes and is expected to last a minimum of fifteen days, counting from last Friday.
Lamiel explained in a press conference that the Ministry of Transport requested the closure to carry out slope stabilization tasks. Machinery must be moved to the left side of the highway to “dig” beyond the damaged area, requiring the total occupation of the road.

"The Ministry of Transport has requested the road closure because tasks are being carried out to stabilize the slope."

This measure also forces the postponement of adding an extra southbound lane that was initially planned. The Servei Català de Trànsit is diverting traffic via alternative routes such as the A-2, C-25, N-340, C-32, and C-58 or B-40, and will reinforce information using mobile panels located at strategic decision points.
