The Ministry of Transport maintains the forecast to reopen the AP-7 motorway southbound near Gelida next Monday, almost three weeks after the closure caused by a landslide.

Roads operators are working against the clock to secure the section of the motorway affected by the collapse of a retaining wall. This incident caused the fatal accident of a Rodalies train on January 20, which led to the closure of traffic in the Tarragona direction to carry out repair work.

"the retaining wall has been built at the height of Gelida, although work continues on the slope and the road itself."

José Antonio Santano · Secretary of State for Transport
The Secretary of State for Transport, José Antonio Santano, confirmed that there are “advances” in the repair and that the forecast to recover traffic next week is maintained, as communicated to the Servei Català de Trànsit (Catalan Traffic Service). The Deputy Director General of Traffic Management, Guillermo Villuendas, also assured that the work “is progressing at a good pace.”
This week, an attempt was made to partially open the AP-7 southbound between Martorell and Gelida for interurban buses and the alternative Renfe service. However, the measure was quickly canceled after two coaches ignored the restrictions and reached the construction site. Currently, the Mossos d’Esquadra maintain controls in Martorell to inform drivers of the diversions via the A-2 and patrol the motorway to prevent new incidents.
