Rodalies train drivers in Catalonia conveyed their concerns to the Renfe management on Wednesday during a meeting in Barcelona regarding recurring incidents and the lack of solutions following the fatal Gelida accident.

The meeting, held at the Hotel Barceló Sants in Barcelona, took place between 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM, coinciding with the strike called by Semaf and the total suspension of the Rodalies service. Union sources described a climate of generalized discontent among the collective.
Renfe representatives, including Álvaro Fernández Heredia and Miguel Ángel Vicente, expressed condolences for the death of the 28-year-old trainee driver in the Gelida (Alt Penedès) accident. However, workers felt that management failed to provide concrete proposals.

"With so many incidents every day, what we want are solutions."

The fact that the meeting was deemed “zero-propositive” led some participants to leave the room early, throwing reflective vests in protest. Drivers also regretted the absence of any representative from Adif, the infrastructure manager.
Several unions announced upon leaving that they are considering joining the strike already called by the majority organization, Semaf, amidst the ongoing railway crisis that has suspended service across the territory.
