The decision to halt all train circulation was made after two rail incidents were recorded. The most serious occurred in Gelida, on the R4 line, where a train collided with a collapsed wall, causing one death and leaving 37 injured, five of whom are in serious condition.
The other incident took place on the RG1 line, between Blanes and Maçanet, when a train struck a stone on the track. Although this accident caused no injuries, it contributed to the decision to preventively stop the entire Rodalies service.
“"The service will not resume until it is verified that there are no alterations to the infrastructure."
The Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, confirmed that the resumption of service depends on the verification of the infrastructure's condition by Adif. A coordination meeting has been called, and “white marches” (test runs without passengers) have been announced to check the real state of the tracks.
Renfe has recommended that users utilize alternative means of transport, such as FGC, metro, or intercity buses, while acknowledging the impossibility of replacing the entire network. The public is asked to avoid non-essential travel.
