The director of the Catalan Traffic Service, Ramon Lamiel, justified the measure by stating that heavy machinery needs to occupy the left southbound lane, which had been reopened to traffic the previous Saturday. This action is crucial to guarantee road safety.
“"We have to take a step back."
Lamiel indicated that the timeline for completing the slope stabilization work is about fifteen days, although the finalization is subject to weather conditions. He argued that, despite being a planned action, the disruption has been greater than anticipated.
The affected stretch, approximately 12 kilometers long between Martorell and Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, registers very high daily traffic, with around 120,000 vehicles, 25,000 of which are trucks.
The recommended alternatives for long-distance traffic are the A-2, the C-15, or the C-32, as was done since the first closure of the highway last week.
