The Diputació de Barcelona (Provincial Council) funded the purchase of a new 47,000 euro pediatric cardiac ultrasound machine for the Alt Penedès Regional Hospital in Vilafranca del Penedès, inaugurated in late 2025.

Deputy Sergi Vallès, President of the Infrastructure and Territory Area, visited the healthcare center this Wednesday to assess the impact of the device, which replaces the previous ultrasound machine that had gone out of service.

"We value this action very positively, as it is a very beneficial subsidy for the healthcare system of the Alt Penedès and is a clear example of how political action can have a direct and tangible impact on people's lives by maintaining essential health services in our region, reinforcing public and local healthcare."

The acquisition of this equipment is essential to reinforce the diagnosis and monitoring of pediatric cardiac pathologies, ensuring quality and local healthcare for children in the Alt Penedès region.
Thanks to this investment, user families are spared the travel they previously had to undertake to hospitals in the neighboring region of Garraf to receive this specialized service.
