Protest by Guala d'Olèrdola workers in the streets of Vilafranca.

Approximately 200 workers from Guala d’Olèrdola, formerly Càpsul.les Metàl·liques, demonstrated this Tuesday in Vilafranca against a Redundancy Plan (ERO) that foresees the dismissal of 82 out of 87 employees.

The protest began on Tarragona avenue and proceeded through several streets in the city center to the Plaça de la Vila. The workers allege that the redundancy plan, announced a month ago, is part of an industrial relocation strategy rather than a response to the company's financial losses.
The march received support from the mayor of Olèrdola, Jordi Alvarez, and reflects concerns voiced by various town councils and political parties in the Alt Penedès region. A significant portion of the affected employees are over 60 years old.
Meetings held between the works council and Guala's management have not yet resulted in a definitive agreement to resolve the situation.
