The Department of Health presented this February the new Health System Map of Catalonia, reorganizing Alt Penedès and Garraf into new integrated service areas.

The Government of Catalonia has designed a strategic tool that reduces the current 43 management areas to 30 Integrated Health Areas (AIS). This shift aims to strengthen primary care as the system's central axis.
Under the new planning, Alt Penedès, Garraf, and Baix Penedès are established as key territorial units. The goal is for citizens to experience fewer administrative hurdles and unnecessary hospital trips.

The AIS will be the new way of organizing health services in the territory to guarantee equity and proximity.

The Department of Health has considered natural population mobility and territorial distribution to establish these new areas, enhancing coordination between health and social services.
